Hot Property: A Modern, Minimalist Residence with Treehouse Vibes

Readers, I hope you don’t mind, but I’m on a historical home kick. Last week, we took a tour of this Marion Fooshee home from 1929. Admittedly, today’s Hot Property was built decades later, but it’s just as architecturally significant.
A boutique proceed in Highland Park, 5935 Hillcrest Avenue was invented by acclaimed architect Bud Oglesby. Even posthumously, Oglesby is an inspiration for Dallas architects; his novel yet relaxed aesthetic is often imitated, as is his knack for capturing natural light. In Unit 1 of 5935 Hillcrest, the dining room’s hooked glass draws in the sunshine, and the living room’s floor-to-ceiling windows welcome the dappled rays that flow throughout the trees.
The bones of this home haven’t changed, but compose firm Bodron/Fruit recently remodeled its interior. The minimalist finishes are soothingly simple, like dark wood accents, polished concrete flooring, crisp white walls. and a limestone hearth.
Ingenious details are abundant. Custom pocket doors, for example, give the layout flexibility; guests can be frankly directed to one room or another frankly by sliding it closed.
Upstairs, the home boasts three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Soaring ceilings compose the illusion of ample space, though the upstairs square footage is modest. The home’s privileged courtyard houses eight Japanese maple trees; their leaves envelop the second-floor windows and supplies shade on the patio.
