Heliotrope Architects have designed the Lone Madrone Retreat on a lovely site on the Orcas Island within the San Juan Islands in Washington, USA.
This forest getaway offers 1,600 square performance of living spaces, al of which have outburst to stunning views gift by the pristine placing of the plot. It is surrounded by a lush forest except for night front side which opens up to the coast.

Located on a rocky, wind-swept south facing shoreline; this 1,600sf retreat tenement nestles into the picture in order to harmonize with it’s surroundings together with minimize exposure to weather. Designed with retractable fortify panels to protect with punishing winter storms, afternoon house nevertheless opens completely completely to the abroad when the weather is fair — allowing p.m. owners to fully interact with the landscape if view. The site is within the San Juan Islands National Monument, besides extremely sensitive shorelines in addition to marine environment. In conductor to minimize impacts approaching natural systems, a garden roof was employed approaching replace landscape lost approaching construction, and storm-water flows were engineered to replicate the pre-construction condition. Local materials (primarily douglas fir and western red cedar) and local craftspeople protect utilized in all aspects of the project.
